Today we have a happy day to celebrate, 4 years ago a little furry cutie whom we called Juno landed into our lives to rule them over.
I still get goosebumps every time I think of that 23rd of July; I was so incredibly nervous thinking how bad human mom I would be for her, not knowing if I would ever be able to adjust having her with us or if I would ever miss not being just the two of us anymore. 4 years later I feel silly for this thoughts, Juno has been the best decision we made as a couple. That’s why we like to celebrate this day in addition to her birthday.
I think we have explained this before, but the first day we brought Juno to her new home she hid for half an hour behind a big moving carboard that was still (we moved to our current home a couple of months before) in the toilet where we put her litterbox. She then decided that we were quiet enough people (and thus safe?) to explore her new home; she walked very slowly going next to every single wall sniffing around, when suddenly she found an unreachable (for us) gap under the sink in the kitchen and I freaked out to get her back again. As a newbie to cats I thought she was too little to get out from there on her own and was already envisioning destroying the kitchen to get her (for real!), of course she proved me wrong and a little tinker butterfly did the trick.
Well, to celebrate this day and because I always enjoy this type of lists, here is what Juno is loving right now:
- Sleeping on top of her felt ball. And it is currently so smashed by her naps, that I’m thinking if we are ever going to be able to restore its initial shape…oops!
- Hearing birds singing, she starts to purr like crazy with them and falls sleep. We sometimes play some random youtube mixing bird videos for her.
- When Dani puts her to sleep every night in the living room. Dani must follow her to the living room and has to say “good night sweetie” or she keeps on jumping to our bed and going to the living room as a clue ;)
- Her malt paste…ommmommm….and eating her cat food balls from our hand.
- Mariko’s voice in her fun videos, Juno loves almost all youtube videos, but gets extra excited with Mariko’s. She is a Juno whisperer! I bet they would be great pals in real life as well.
- Playing hide and seek, demanding to enter into closed rooms (if the door is open she is just not interested) and helping in our crafts (specially when scissors are involved)
Happy day Juno!
Do you have a furry pal? How was your first day with them at home? I’d love to hear your stories!
Your list is so funny! <3
Congrats for Juno, she is so lucky that she has a wonderful family!
Thanks Deniz! :) I really hope we are a good family for her, we do our best!
I bet you are an amazing human mum to Juno c:
What a lucky cat she is! Happy anniversary ^_^
Xx
♥ thanks Mei!!
ahh this is too sweet – had to laugh about her sleeping on top of her home! I love that she loves birds singing and Mariko’s voice! Ben and I didn’t get a cat for ages because we over thought everything but I’m glad we just did it because cats are the best and it was our best decision too. I thought taking Gremlin home was going to be a little bit happier, but he missed his family and hid as well (which was super sad). I’m glad it was only temporary and I still have plans to make a date with his Mum! I wonder how that would go, if they would remember each other?
I sometimes also wonder about Juno’s mum and brothers & sister (she had only one female sibling), and if she ever thinks/dreams about them. We were told that she was not the favorite member of the family; brothers teased her for being so little, but still. Let me know if you ever have a date with Gremlin’s mum, that would be interesting! :)
what a sweet post. happy anniversary :)
Thanks Petra!! :)
Oh my Juno, happy fourth! Stay catsome! I can still remember very clearly when we took in Pixel & Cera on June 1st last year. They were miauwing all the way home (about a one-hour drive) and they were still so teeny tiny and so cute! We put them in one bench and they just kept on squeaking until we got home. When we opened the bench they first started exploring the whole apartment and when they were exhausted they fell asleep on the heading of our couch on top of each other. They used to love each other so much more then they do now, unfortunately. They almost never lie close to each other, all they do is playfully fight and from time to time wash each other (until one gets sick of it and runs off…) Haha, this was a fun memory to share, took me the whole year back :)
Thanks Elisse for sharing!! Your story is so cute, I always wonder how Juno would interact with a sibling and with us if it were two cats and two humans at home ;)
I just had to see what felt ball you were talking about so I clicked the link, she looks so cute in it!! Too bad it lost its original shape, maybe you can restore it! I don’t have a pet yet, but I hope to have a little furball running around the house later :)
Furry pals are a must hahaha :) just kidding I know it’s not for everyone, but if you ever thought about it, it may be a good decision to take :) – oh and really hope I can get back the shape when winter comes, she loooves her felt ball so much!
Bahahaha! I am honoured to be included in Juno’s list of her favourite things. The extra crazy cat lady in me wants to set up Skype dates with Juno and Gatsby, but that seems a little excessive. Even if they would be soooo cute together!
hahahhahaha, that would be so awesome :) I agree they would be very very cute together!
what a happy day to celebrate! when piri joined me in new york to live with me, his first day was a mess. he didn’t want to be here and didn’t know why his surrounding all of the sudden changed. but he warmed up quick enough. piri is one of the best things that happened to me :)
Poor Piri! I think Juno would react the same to changes, she is always quite reluctant to any change of her routine. How has Piri handled the new home this time?
Such an adorable list! And Juno is lucky to have you two as her owners! :)
aww, thanks! ♥ hope she feels the same!
Oh gosh, I’m no cat lover but Juno is absolutely adorable! I mean, look at that face!!! Happy day to Juno!
