Today is my birthday! 🎈
Being an early September girl I’ve always felt that my birthday fell just in the middle of nowhere, the school year in Barcelona has not started yet, while it’s definitely not summer anymore. Therefore, during my teens & college years, my birthday was usually mostly unnoticed (apart from my mom & closest ones, of course!), which meant no parties with friends & University room mates.
That was before meeting Dani who likes to make it part of his duties to make a day of it, ha! Being the introvert that I am, I really prefer not having a party, but I hugely appreciate that he loves to make a plan for the two of us (including my mom sometimes, like in Carcassone) and plays the secretive guy the weeks before it.
This year is no different and Dani is playing it cool, like he has not even thought about it. I know it’s a scheme because he asked my work a day off so we could celebrate, got him! What I don’t know is what he has actually planned and why I need all the day off. Maybe a picnic out somewhere? Which are your guesses? My bet is it involves food, because 90% of our dates are around food (ohmy! huge bellies!)
To have an early birthday treat we went to Gracia to eat a Kakigori, shaved ice with flavours from Japan. I had cherry but you can choose from a big list, they told us syrups are handmade and natural. They also sell freshly made Dorayakis with western touches, like for instance Gorgonzola cheese with nuts (Dani got it and was very good!)
We found this 3d lettering murals (graffiti) around the neighborhood in Gracia thanks to an Instagram picture from ginapetxina, so thank you a lot for the discovery! I couldn’t think of a more colorful & happy place for my birthday pictures.
I’ll let you know more about what Dani’s plans where in the next post, and thank you for being here watching me turning another year, big love to everyone reading!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Oh these photos are so cute and bright and happy!! I have no idea about Dani’s plans but I’m 110% sure they will be great – can’t wait to hear about them :) I hope you are having (or had!) a great day :) On a random side note, kakigori was the first word I officially learnt in Japanese and it has stayed with me every since :) + totally yum!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! <3 Hahahaha Kakigori is a great first word and very useful, Does it maybe has something to do with you visiting during summer? Big hug my dear friend!
Have fun lovely. Can’t wait to see what you get up to :) That dress is amazing by the way!
Thank you loveliest Kate!!!! I’ll share Dani’s plans on the next snapshots, but it was indeed a foodie and wonderful date. Thank you for your birthday wishes! <3
