Staying at home diary: the music of our lives

Vinyl collection - The cat, you and us

How is your life going? Hope you are doing fine and things are getting better around you!

One of the side effects of being more time at home (well, “more” it’s a complete understatement in this case… 24h a day, ha!) is that I’ve been observing more closely all the things we have around our home that raise happiness in me and also reviewing photo albums and looking through our collections. So I thought I could share one of them with you today, the vinyl collection! Although we definitely have way more books or dvds, our small vinyl collection reflects so many important moments of our lives that it’s a favorite. Do we share any beloved albums? I’m sure we do, let’s see!

Oh! and I totally seized this photo session opportunity to wear my new and shiny spring clothes, it’s just the perfect match for our music collection, ha! Are you wearing clothes inside your home that bring you joy? I started wearing boring clothes, but wearing here and there cute pieces are lifting up my mood. I also totally wore my Star Wars t-shirt yesterday (May the 4th) as a homage.

I have to admit that when we want to listen to music our first source is Spotify, but for special moments nothing can beat using the record player; it’s way more fun, putting the record on place and using the needle. It is also kind of (good) weird to play a record side from beginning to end, specially after being so used to play songs individually or even making mixed playlists. Do you own a record player? There are many music records that have been thought by the artist to play the song one next to the other, so with the record player you are getting the experience the musician wanted to convey. Not to mention for instance one of my favorite music genres, the musicals!

Our collection of music has now only 19 albums, but they are a good representation of our tastes and moments important in our lives. For instance, Beirut’s Gulag Orkestar album instantly makes me think about our wedding. In the photos I have selected a good representation of our big loves: the musicals, Disney, Vampire weekend, She & Him, Beirut or Tom Rosenthal, to mention a few. Precisely this last one, Tom Rosenthal, I met through Louise, one of my blog pals, to whom I will be forever thankful because listening to him is one big joy in our lives. Which are your favorite albums/bands?

Can you name all the albums in this gif?

Ohmy… can’t believe she just turned 10 years old 5 days ago, my sweet little fur baby! she looks way younger, right? I like to believe that this is something that runs in the family and that Daniel and myself also look younger, ha! :)

Since this last weekend things have slowly changed here in Spain, we have started a new phase of the confinement and are now allowed to walk once a day and in two allotted time slots: either from 6-10 or from 20-23 (this has been specially designed to protect older people that are allowed in different time slots than children or adults, hence reducing the risk of contagion). However, I foresee still lot of time in home enjoying my collections, would you like to see more of them? I am also making the albums with the photos of our 2019 trip to Japan and I’m excited to add digitalized paper mentos I recollected (such as tickets) in between the photos, I will show you the results too!

Sending lots of hugs and music your way!
