Carcassonne: Part II

Carcassonne - The cat, you and us

Hello there! Here we have a selection of the rest of the pictures we shot at Carcassonne. With them we are also waving today goodbye to the gorgeous medieval town, want to join us in the so longs?

see also Part I

The city of Carcassonne, located on the south of France, is divided in half by the Aude river: the first half being the medieval town (la cité) with the castle and its (souvenir) shops and restaurants and the other half that we could call the modern one with the Canal du Midi as its most famous spot. Let’s see both of them!

In case you were wondering if we were all alone in the city, we weren’t! ha! Carcassone is in fact a very popular place, and lots of crowds can be found on the main entrance and streets. We were lucky to visit it on a weekday on September though and well… maybe we do have the photographer’s patience in our genes as well ;)

The medieval town can be seen from the other half of the city, here at the riverside.

We had dinner at L’escargot, a french tapas restaurant inside the medieval town which seemed quite popular!

La cité du Carcassonne has a very unique popular explanation for its name involving a certain Madame Carcas, that I forgot to mention on my first post, but since I think you may enjoy it as well I’m linking it to end the post. Let me advance that is quite an interesting story! Pity it’s only a legend, ha!

Have you enjoyed our Carcassonne tour? I’m far from being “done” with the area, this quick visit to the medieval gem only increased our curiosity for the rest of Cathar towns, let’s dream about another getaway !

Lady Carcas is one smart lady! You read my mind about thinking how quiet and lucky you guys were! I love the shot of you in the meadow and I love all the old doors and stone, totally spot on too with your sweet medieval princess outfit :)
