And with that, April comes to an end! Although it makes it with a bang, a bank holiday on Monday that is much welcomed. Do you also have Monday free? What are your plans? We will be staying home for the long weekend finishing up videos to edit, posts for next month (blogiversary in sight!) and some planning for Dani’s birthday that’s also happening at the beginning of next month. Oh! and we have tickets for 3 movies from a small indie film festival in Barcelona which I’m quite excited about. Have you watched 20th century women, free fire or personal shopper? I would love to know your opinion. Of course, we are also going to see next week Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2 with little cute Groot!
But let’s stop anticipating and turn our heads back for the last time to April. This month of April had me dreaming about a shiny spring, while at the next day the cold weather was back again, as a reminder that Barcelona isn’t yet ready to let me forget about sweaters and scarfs. Juno has also been affected by the weather and she is shedding quite a lot, our house is a fluff field. I’m picking up a little fluff ball every step I make, ha!
Our favorite day of April is always Sant Jordi on the 23rd, the book and rose festivity. Traditionally girls get a rose while boys a book, but luckily for me (and for lots of other girls too) I get both. I had to admit that if I had to choose, I would pick the book without thinking twice. The streets of Barcelona are full with roses and books, which is a perfect sight, but also people… lots of them! You’ll see in the pictures how it looks like to be walking with your rose.
There are three books in the pictures because I always get a book for my mom and she gets one for me. I think I know where the book loving thing comes from, right? I bought Dani The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, after a conversation we had where he assured he had never read this gothic (horror-ish) novel, and I couldn’t believe it as he is so much into classics. My mom bought me Elective Affinities by the German author Goethe and Dani bought me also a horror novel called We have always lived in the castle by Shirley Jackson which has the cute edition you can see on the pics.
Well, and that was pretty much everything our phones captured this month. How was your April? Do you have furry ones also shedding? Which are your plans for next month? I’d love to read what’s about you!
A quick shout out to our Japan films! We have already posted our third Japan film on Youtube and this is one I would love you to watch: Disneysea! Stop by to see the best Disney costumes ever, my happiest smiles and a dreamy carousel. Let me know which part of the park in the video is your favorite!
Roses and books, what a lovely day! :D -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
i am groooooooooot. can’t believe how fast time is going by. happy may!
I loved We’ve Always Lived in the Castle! I recommend reading the wikipedia page after reading the book, it gives a lot of cool context. I love that spoopy cute cover! It is the one my library had. I am such a book cover snob.
Oh! So great to know that you loved We’ve always lived in the castle and will definitely take your advice of reading afterwards the Wikipedia page. I’m loving so much what I’ve read so far, but I just got to the arsenic story (no spoilers), excited to keep reading.
“our house is a fluff field” – aww, amazing description! :) I’ve never heard of Sant Jordi. Any celebration of books (and roses, too!) sounds right up my street.
We’re seeing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 this week, too. Haven’t seen any of the other 3 movies you mention, though, you’ll have to report back on how they are!
Off to watch your video :)
A wonderful post as always I love the book selection above and hearing about the 23rd April. Sounds like a very special day. I haven’t seen any of those films yet but Personal Shopper is meant to be great! I watched a crazy Korean film last night called The Wailing which I loved ❤️ Your Japan videos are so fantastic and make me feel all warm and fuzzy and as if I was there! I had some how missed the first one so just had the pleasure of watching it. You guys did an amazing job of capturing your trip. Can’t wait for more xx
The Wailing is on my watchlist too! It was one of our choices for Sitges Film Festival but couldn’t manage to include it for the scheduling. Now that I know you loved it I’ll make sure to find it! Thanks deeply for your comment about our travel films, it means so so much. Btw, Free fire was so much fun, it’s like a good British acid humor version of Reservoir dogs, and we enjoyed so much 20th Century women too. We have tickets for Personal Shooper for this Sunday, I’ll let you know :)
Awww such a happy month and so much cutie pie Juno! Have you guys ever attempted putting a mandarin on her (weird question I know!) That shot of her curled up reminded me of a photo I saw on pinterest where someone with a white cat did the mandarin trick turning their cat into an egg – he he he! I don’t know if Juno would be game for anything to be placed on her, I know Gremlin is quite fine to ignore our silly antics but only when he is in sleep mode :P Happy May!
Mandarin trick? Is it something like the cucumber one? Off to google it right now! :) Happiest May friend!
Flowers make me smile. But I would definitely choose a book over one, but getting both would be nice too. XD
April was lovely. I’ve been spending more time over at my boyfriend’s place and he has two cats.
Both of whom shed like crazy. I don’t think it’s due to the weather so much so as they are long hair kitties. My hair is all over the place too, so I feel a bit bad for my boyfriend. I try to sweep up whenever I’m over there.
Hahahaha, so true, I think it’s got more to do with long hair ladies of all sorts :) I’m sure your boyfriend is super happy to have you around, no matter how many spring hairs he may find <3
