Tonight is the Oscars 2016 eve, not very surprising news, right? I am sure even those who don’t count movies as one of their favorite hobbies are aware of this yearly date with the cinema’s most famous ceremony. It’s everywhere in the media and of course, being the movie addicted we are, we couldn’t miss this chance to make a little post about it and jump into the Oscars wagon.

At our local movie theatre they have this classic movie fact sheets freebies that I like to collect. We have quite a few from this Oscars season.

Although I don’t take the Oscars too seriously, the weeks before the Oscars is a film season I enjoy heaps. I don’t see the nominated as the best films of the complete year and frequently my favourites are not in the list, but I see it as a chance of being able to watch movies that will be good, in some way or another. It is like making a safe bet when you buy movie tickets.

I think I have mentioned it before, but we are not able to throw a proper home party for the Oscars because it starts when here it is 1:00 am in the morning (of the following day). Sometimes, I manage to keep awake just to see a little bit of the red carpet, but when the actual ceremony starts I am always fast asleep. However, we never fail to fill in our Oscars ballots and I cross fingers to be the one of the two whom gets more wins: a big bag of sweets is in play, we are not joking, ha!
My head this year is going with The Revenant – although I much enjoyed Birdman last year from Iñarritu than his new flick – but my heart would go with Brooklyn. Thus, I went for the middle and finally I chose for my ballot The big short, a quite wild guess, but heck there is already Leo for the safe bet *wink I can go riskier in other categories.

We each took a picture with our winning and losing pose, to use the most appropriate the next morning when we find out. Silly heads?

Are you watching the Oscars tonight? Which best nominated picture is your favorite? Is your 2015 favorite movie nominated in any category? A part from the nominated (Brooklyn, Carol , Steve Jobs, The big short, Star Wars VII,… ), I also enjoyed a lot this year Far from the madding crowd, Slow west and Mistress America, to mention a few. Let’s talk movies!
