Today we are sharing the real reason we headed to Parc de la Ciutadella (check monday’s post!) the weekend my mom came over: it was near our food target, we had to pay our first visit to Picnic, a very popular brunch place we yet had to discover but which had received big praises for his eggs benedict.
One thing I’ve confessed before is that I’m not a big brunch aficionado. The only reason behind this statement is that I need to have breakfast and lunch, both things, I can’t miss any of my meals, they are just too delicious! Even with that said, I love the type of food usually associated with brunch, like pancakes and eggs and oatmeal and chai tea or lemonade, all together the better – not really, but you get me! I’m not picky when it comes to mix salty and sugar. However our choices at Picnic were more lunch inspired than breakfast-ish (making up words, sorry!), while Dani took the famous eggs Benedict, I went for carnitas tacos. Both were mind-blowing and made Picnic’s popularity understandable.
Do you like brunch? Which type of brunch food is your favorite? Oh! and are you planning to come to Barcelona? If the answer to first and last question is a yes, consider adding Picnic to your map, we will go again for sure!
I love brunch foods, but like you I find it difficult to skip a meal. I usually get up early and have a really light breakfast on days that I have lunch plans.
This place looks lovely! I need to get better at taking pictures inside of restaurants and such.

Inside pictures are painful, but we are happy with the results of these taking into account the dim light of the restaurant :)
Wow this spot looks really great! I would love to make it over to Picnic one day and I hope you had fun with your mom visiting! I have to disagree with you about Brunch though – I absolutely love it!

It’s great we all have our preferences! ♥ ♥ We had a good time with my mom, although she is reluctant at first she likes to try new places! :)
The food looks good! And I haven’t had lemonade in a long time!
I only make lemonade at home during summer :) never tried pink version at home, but since the strawberry season has already started I will try this year!
I think I just like eating :) I also like the trend of mason jar’s as cups – cute! I’m also hungry after seeing your mouth watering photos and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t suddenly also crave a pink lemonade! he he he
Hahahaha, so true, eating in general :) I also love the trend of the mason jars, Dani has even tried it at home with regular jars without the same type or result ;)
Ohhh Picnic!! we went there as well, except Bar Nou this one is the second cafe that looks familiar from our lovely Barcelona trip :)
I love evety kind of meals, breakfast and brunches are my favorite but nowadays I’m much more in the mood for wine&cheese and crostinis :)
Mmmm love cheese! :) What did you have at Picnic? Where you for brunch/lunch or dinner? I’ve read that they have a quite different menu for the evenings. ♥
Ohhhh, this looks so cosy and nice! I especially dig the plates and the big glasses full of lemonade! Also, brunch is my favourite kind of food. It’s a sign of a semi-lazy day because it means you don’t have to get up early to go to work. Hehe ;)
Picnic was a great find :) I love when there are big glasses of a fresh drink! ♥
ha, I’m with you. food is just too good to miss any meal of the day. looks delicious :)
Too true! ♥ thanks Petra!
I do like brunch c: but I also like to have breakfast and lunch seperatly!
Anyway this Picnic place looks alright c: Love the pink lemonade
in these jars too! Xx http://icepandora.blogspot.com
I have what might seem like a silly question. Is the brunch menu only on the weekend? Do they serve it on weekdays? We will be in Barcelona mid-week but I would like to give this place a try. I keep reading about it. Thanks!!
Hi Nikki! Not a silly question at all! :) Last time we visited on a weekday for lunch they had a closed menu for around 10€. You can choose between two options each, which usually includes some of the brunch options like the green tomatoes or even sometimes the tacos. Maybe you can check their dinner menu too, it sounds also quite good. Have a great time in Barcelona!
