Hello! Monday is here and although our heads are still in weekend mode we are thrilled to start a new section inside our “As of late” series. Altogether with our “snapshots from…” – month recap via our phone pics – we are adding an occasional “our current favorites” type of posts, yay?
I know, not anything new under the sun, but since it’s a section from fellow bloggers where I never fail to pick lots of movies, books and gifts recommendations, I thought it could be equally interesting to share our latest obsessions (or those knick knacks that don’t find their own post) to discuss them with our best online pals (a.k.a you!).
Well, let’s move to our first current favorites list ever!
Gilmore Girls and Psycho keychains
Dani recently bought these keychains as a surprise gift: Dragonfly Inn, for me and Bates Motel, for him. One morning when I was going off to work my keys where perfectly hanging on a brand new keychain and on a closer inspection I saw that it represented a Dragonfly Inn (from the Gilmore Girls show) keychain. Those who are used to my Gilmore Girls rant won’t be surprised to learn that I shed to tears with emotion: I had a key to a Dragonfly room! well…kinda! a girl can dream, ha! Dani bought for him a matching Bates Motel, because watching a re-run of Psycho at the movie theater was our second date.
The keychains are not only adorable, but also lighter than the ones we used to have (we have had matching keychains since we moved together), which has made my purse weight more bearable.
Spring skirt
The second current favorite is not that current, in fact it is something I’m looking forward to be able to finally wear this month. I bought the skirt in a market 1 month ago and due to the weird temperatures of this spring I have not been able to wear it yet. I’m planning to pair it with my fake-leather jacket. How do you think it will look?
Girls Season 5
Yesterday I was telling Dani how I have enjoyed every single season of Girls so much. It’s maybe too soon to tell, but I think this 5th may become one of my favorites. The characters are having a journey in their own, which results in more deep and auto-concluding episodes, like the one with Marnie meeting Charlie and wandering the streets of New York. Also, we see Shoshanna living in Tokyo, a place we all immediately saw her loving, but will undoubtedly repel her away: the fast-talking Shoshanna is not tailored for a life there.
I read in an article recently that we love to hate Marnie, what do you think about this? Is Marnie really the only one we love to hate? I think the same will apply to each one of them. I love them because they are very relatable, but precisely for that they take decisions that are less than perfect. Oh! and another recent news about the show, Lena Dunham announced that the 6th season will be the last and I applaud it, no matter how much I will miss the show (lots!), I think she is brave enough to end it when she needs to. What do you think about it?
Sally Tsum Tsum
I’m that kind of girl that needs to enter to the Disney store every single time we stumble upon one. Don’t worry, I’m not a shopping addict, so although almost everything the store contains is appealing to me I usually leave empty-handed (relief!). However, the last time I found this Sally Tsum Tsum, all alone by herself for a discounted price of 2.50$, and the need to bring it home was too strong. Dani is not a lot into tsum tsums, but agreed and is now proudly *wink* displayed with our DVD collection.
And that’s it for this first release!
I like this wagon of “favorites” around the blogosphere, because I rely more on what another blogger recommends since I feel I know about him/her likes and dislikes and how I relate to them, is it just me? What is your last obsession?
Awesome stuff. Especially love the key chains. I think I’ve seen ones like those for the Great Northern Hotel (Twin Peaks) & The Overlook.
There are several types of this “hotel room” key chains for everything (I’ve seen cities, and such as well), but I specially like the ones that represent a hotel since it seems more of a fit. Twin Peaks, wow, that’s a perfect one!
So fun you guys are doing a favourites series, I’m sure I will pick up some awesome things from you guys! I love love those keychains – such a sweet surprise :) Okay confession time, I have never seen the gilmore girls or girls – eep, I’ll have to add them to my watch list! Can’t wait to see a cute outfit post with that skirt when the weather is in the skirts favour :) And sally for the win – still one of my most favs movies!
Eeep, thanks!!! Glad that you like that we are doing a favorites series :) Dani was a little reluctant at first with the Gilmore Girls, since he thought it was more like a soap opera-ish, but after two episodes he was on my love wagon, her fast-speed talks full of pop culture references plus the quirky characters is the best of the show :) Definitely Sally for the win! now if I was only able to score down Jack I’d be a happy gal ;)
Aw, that tsumtsum is so cute! And oh dear me, I haven’t watched girls since finishing season 2 a long time ago now. I really like the show, but other things came up. Maybe I’ll get back at it!
The same happened for me and the Sopranos, I really liked the first seasons, but there are so many shows lately that’s difficult to keep up with all of them :)
Oh I love this!! I have one of those key chains – the penpal society one. Yours are great. I gave up on Girls a while back but I might give it another go. Gorgeous skirt :)

Our favorite series is GIRLS!!! as well. I’m sorry about the news about its ending coming soon… Also we loveeeeed “Looking” (hbo series) but it has ended as well.
I love to hate Marni because she is so grey. She is the only character in the show that doesn’t have any character :)) also Shosana is so fun, and our favorite character!
I also suggest you to watch “Mozart in the Jungle”!
