Happy summer! How is this week going? I should start this post by telling you the controversy this post has caused within the little The cat, you and us family.
During one of those planning blog posts talks on the weekend (Saturday usually) I told Dani about posting a picture an hour for next week. We had never tried before to start the day with the camera in our hands and keep it until the very end, only during our travels but never at home, so it felt new and challenging. At the same moment I was telling this I knew Dani was not sold on the idea, not because he didn’t like it (quite the contrary!), but because he thought we weren’t going to be able to be completely accurate about the time of the picture.
Although I’m also a little perfectionist (sometimes a big annoying one, in fact!) this wasn’t bothering me at all this time and I thought you were going to excuse us if the picture were not exactly on time, right? It was more fun to focus on how we could show you a random Sunday with us rather than on the time schedule. Now you can tell that the post title is a compromise between our views, is not what marriage is all about? ha!
We both had so much fun taking pictures during all day, no matter how un-fancy that day was. We started super slow at home, eating breakfast and playing with our little Juno and then visited a vintage market next to the sea, went to location scouting and ended it at Usagui, our favorite coffee place in our city. Would you like to follow us on a Groundhog day movie kind of experience? Jump on board!
8:00
Ohaio! This is how our living room wakes up! Although we don’t live in an upper floor we can’t complain about the gorgeous morning light. I use this time to read my blogs, check social networks and pinterest on the couch.
8:30
Dani goes to the bakery and buys croissants. It’s such a little thing but it makes a huge difference to feel the weekend better than any other day. Juno eats breakfast as well, in fact she claims me to feed her. She always has the bowl with her food but loves to come to the bedroom when she hears I’m waking up to walk me to her eating nook. Once there she screams if I don’t consent immediately by sitting on the floor. Spoiled little diva!
9:00
Dani prepares breakfast, lately I’m favouring chai latte and Dani always (always!) drinks coffee. You can see here another mug of my collection, I bought it as a souvenir at the American Museum of Natural History. One of our lately guilty pleasures is vbloggers, it’s a world still have to understand plenty, but I’m sure it helped triggering our making more videos hype. Do you know any channel we should check out? Do you maybe have a channel yourself?
10:00
Juno is always by our side while we are watching videos together or I share something from my blog list.
10:30
We like to seize this slow mornings to play a lot with Juno, I like to have her on my lap and talk with her (crazy cat lady BIG alert, ha!)
11:00
While my games with Juno always end with me petting her, Dani plays more adventurous games being her favorite the “inspect the room or UFO” with her up on a box checking all the things she usually can’t see from the floor.
13:00
After changing clothes, we realized that the morning was indeed going too slow and that probably lunch was going to be delayed thus I decided to satisfy hunger with a popsicle, I know… a very balanced diet. Since there was a subway strike we waited for a bus that ‘only’ (sarcasm alert) took 1h to get to the beach.
14:00
At la Barceloneta there was a vintage market we like to visit called Lost and Found, we read that there were two food trucks parked at the market, so that was a perfect deal for our late lunch plans.
15:00
There was a Mexican and a Peruvian truck at the market, guess which one we chose? I’ve only tried before a bite of a sanguche, a Peruvian sandwich, when Dani had it at a food truck festival 1 year ago and I was blown-away, so imagine the anticipation I had for this one. My favorite are the sauces, hands down!
16:00
I discovered a stall full of recycled vintage shirts, I tried two and was secretly in love with all of them, but mysteriously, I left it empty handed.
17:00
The beach was completely packed! Wowza! Do you remember how it looked in our Barceloneta video? This is what a month makes to our beach space, ha!
17:30
We decided that it was wiser to take the train back home instead of the bus, and as a bonus we were able to check one location for The cat in love pictures. Old stations make for such a romantic/nostalgic vibe pictures, doesn’t they?
18:30
Once home we knew our day was still not over. Since our lunch (& brunch? I’m calling a popsicle really brunch? *palm face*) was rather slim we knew a cake would make our bellies happy. My favorites are served at Usagui, so there we went! Dani had all-matcha choosing a matcha latte and a matcha tartlet while I drank a matcha frappé but ate a chiffon cake. I love how Japanese cakes are so fluffy! We also had some gyozas and yakisoba as an early dinner.
20:30
At home Juno was this cute which made us realize even more how much we were missing her!
What are your plans during weekends? Do you find our schedule a little weird? We know about the Spanish strange eating hours. How will a picture an hour Sunday of yours look like?
I love this sort of day-in-the-life post :D omg Usagui looks soooooo delicious. I don’t have a regular weekend schedule now that I’m on summer break, but my weekends during the school year are a little more routine! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
Thanks girl! <3 Usagui is so delicious! We still have to share it properly though, we should make a post or feature it on the guide :) Hope you have the best time during summer break, well-deserved off time!
Oh my gosh, that photo of dani with Juno ontop of the basket is so funny! Ben totally indulges Gremlin with parading him around the house so he can get a different view too – he he he! I always thought those photo an hour posts would be so tricky to do – I think it’s definitely okay not to be spot on time :P Love seeing your lounge room – your house is so so pretty! Oh and that mug is so so beautiful :)
Awww so much fun that Ben does the same parading with Gremlin around the house!! Thanks for the sweet words dear Fee, I’m dying to properly catch up with your Japan posts, I’m struggling with work but I have seen all the chapters already once but I want to watch them further & closely, they are very very special.
Gracias por las fotos, son deliciosas, dan un poco de envidia sana, juno como siempre en plan estrella total, os añoro, besos
Te echamos mucho de menos también! Disfruta de estos días, te pediremos las fotos :) muaak
Junoooo I miss you so much haha :P such a cutiepie. I like this day in hours blogpost style!
I can still remember the heat at the beaches of Barcelona, I kind of miss that.
That matcha tarlet looks yumyum c: xx
Ice Pandora
Aww, I’m sure she misses you too (and we certainly miss you)! The beaches are so so crazy right during summer in Barcelona, right? Better with an ice-cream on the hand *wink*
This was such a cute recap of your Sunday. I loved every single picture. Looks like you all – including Juno – had an awesome day :)
Thank you Elisse! :) When we spend more hours at home Juno is a happy gal, it’s so cute to see her happiness when she wakes up and can see us around the house, she makes a little scream to let us know that she totally approves :)
i love following you guys throughout your day :) i have been wanting to do a photo an hour but i keep forgetting to take a picture in the morning!
I know! The morning is the most difficult, we had to consciously make the decision so we took the camera out as soon as we woke up :) Thanks Jane for your sweetness!
I think my parents and I walked through that market on our last day in Barcelona! I miraculously walked away without buying anything as well. These photos make me wish I had been able to spend more time in Barcelona… a weekend trip was clearly not long enough!
I love this post. I’m so glad you were able to agree on a compromise! We are also big fans of the lazy Sunday and usually eat lunch very late and then have just a snack later at night. We also love long lazy brunches and spending too much time playing video games and drinking coffee (usually a whole pot between the two of us) before heading out for the day.
