A sweet afternoon

Dulcinea Barcelona - The cat, you and us

Hello pals! We have a post today for all those of you with a sweet tooth: our hot chocolate & churros date of this last weekend.

First of all though I would like to say a big thank you for all the comments & warm attention to our Mary Poppins collection, I am more than happy to know that she is also the favorite nanny of lots of you.

I usually don't crave for chocolate, Dani does (a lot!) but if there is one way I can't resist chocolate is when it comes melted: hot chocolate, coulant, nutella, all of them are my cup of tea.

One of our winter traditions is to pay a visit to one of the most traditional chocolate coffee places in Barcelona: Dulcinea. Visiting Dulcinea during weekends becomes a little more than a foodie experience as you will quickly get what I mean from the pictures. We were there at the opening of doors at 17h and in a few minutes there was full house.

We had hot chocolate, which is thicker and less sweet in its Spanish format & for the dipping churros and melindros, the last one being probably less known outside our doors. Melindros are like ladyfingers, sponge biscuits, that are in my opinion lighter to eat with our thick black hot chocolate. Dani is a classic fella and always favors churros.

Petritxol street in Barcelona is known for its chocolate places, so make sure to mark it in your map!

It's one of those experiences that if you come during cold weather to our city you surely won't like to miss! Do you like churros? Have you ever tried Melindros/Ladyfingers? Off I go, gonna grab something to eat, this post is making me hungry!

Oh, that looks so so so delicious! I’ve always wanted to try churros, but never got around to it. I have tried ladyfingers though (they’re good!), but never freshly made ones (which I’m sure are even better!). If I ever go to Barcelona I’ll make sure to pop by this street. :)

I’m sure you will love churros, they are crispy and delicious, people here usually have them for breakfast with chocolate or a latte :)

  2. There’s a new-ish coffee shop near my college, and I’ve been to it three times now! The first time there I got Spanish Hot Chocolate, which was described as “rich and decadent,” and it sure was! SOOO good! The second time I tried a chai latte which was alright. My third time was yesterday, and I was set on getting the Spanish Hot Chocolate. However it tasted very different from the first time I got it–very milky, not enough chocolate, and not very rich or decadent. So now I’m really craving some proper Spanish Hot Chocolate! And heck yeah, I love churros! Getting $1 churros from Costco was my childhood :P -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

Oh! So fun to learn that the rich version is called Spanish hot chocolate! Definitely a good description, rich and decadent :) :) I saw also churros during our Japan trip but they were like a bigger version and you could only buy one (plenty enough!) at a time, are Costco’s also the big version?

Thick hot chocolate is absolutely the best in winter, specially for dipping! :) How is hot chocolate in France? I think I have never had a chance to try it.

The place has this frozen in time look that makes it so nice to visit and of course churros and chocolate make the decision to visit it even easier, ha!

I love me some churros, although I usually take mine with dolce de lecce. We have lots of cold weather food traditions in Quebec… coming up is maple season, which I am very excited for!

Maple season sounds amazing! :) and have never tried churros with dulce de leche! I definitely think I should step up my churros game ;)

-drools- omgosh this looks good! Normally I’m not a chocolate craving
person but I’d love to try out this place. The chocolate looks so pure
and thick and bitter: perfect for cookies and churros! I bet Dani was
super happy :P Xx Ice Pandora

Ohhhh I love chocolate, I tried a Spanish hot chocolate from a local place, don’t know how authentic it was but it was definitely much thicker than what I was used to – very rich!!! I love those photos of everyone waiting/peering in and your happy smile :)
