2nd blogiversary: a year in outfits

A year in outfits - The cat, you and us

Hello there! Today we have another special recap post due to our second blogiversary of this month, and this time we are reviewing together my clothing choices of this year! But first, have you checked Monday’s post with our dear guest Elena from Lelelerele? She is finishing, for now, our series sharing her inspiring bits, but we will come back soon, hope you’re enjoying discovering some of our favorite talented peeps!

Without further ado…fashion, or well, my type of laid back fashion approach. I remember telling you last year how my choices could be described as laid back with a touch of quirkiness, and while it seems nothing is new under the sun oh boy! I enjoy clothes chatting with you and we are planning on keep delivering from time to time outfit(-ish) sessions during the new blogging year ahead, so hope you like it too!

In case you’re curious to see more pics of each of the outfits just click on the image to jump to the post.

Another funny thing is that I have been lately sharing some outfits at Modcloth style gallery (are you there too? If you are, here is my gallery) when you upload an image there is a review process where some tags are attached to your picture, and guess which are usually mine… yes, you’re right: casual & quirky, and cats, I think cats is also in most of them.

Last year recap I wish-listed a big bag for my wardrobe but instead I bought a cute backpack (which is not on the large side, you can see for yourself on the last picture of this batch of bags) and keep on wearing small ones for dates and my basic mid-sized for work. I have realized I either can’t love any large one, or I fell to see my rather petite frame wearing one.

Although I used to wear mostly dresses all the time, I have lately found myself being more and more tempted by a-lined skirts with tights, I love tights. It’s kind of tricky to wear sheer tights with Juno (and her lovely but sharp claws) for more than 2 days in a row. Do you have any advice for strong tights or maybe do you think it’s better my current strategy to find cheap ones (last find at H&M, 4.99€ for 2 pairs)?

Scarfs are my weapon to avoid getting a cold (big trick, duh!). I always wear one on my tote bag to work; the red one on the picture below is my favorite and I wear them always even on all of our travels, when it’s handy no matter the season to be prepared for changes of weather during a day full of visiting.

My go-to piece (everyone’s?) are cardigans, and my favorite colors for them are red and gray which I find the most combinable with my clothes. However the most important piece in the outwears I have incorporated in my wardrobe recently is a raincoat in yellow which may be a little less useful in a Barcelona-like weather, but it’s irresistible in rainy or non-rainy spring/autumn days. Have you bought any go-to piece lately?

Hands down I’m a granny at heart and have favored this year brooches and pins above any other possible accessory, even over necklaces which usually catch my eye the most. I think seeing awesome pins/badges/brooches collection from some other fellow inspiring bloggers (Neatest badge collection from Ms Fee here, The always growing one that I’ve long admired from Ms Kaylah here, The adorable Disney pin collection from Ms Eleonore here or the lovely pieces by Ms Rebecca here to mention a few!) only increase day by day my inner collector nuts obsession, so I am now happily growing a humble one myself. Do you have your own badge/pin/brooch collection displayed on your blog? Leave me a link, I would love to see it!

Winter is a season when I find quite difficult to dress comfy and pretty at the same time because I am always cold. So cold that I need to layer up like I was ready to climb a frozen mountain. I know, I live in a very mild weather, so I couldn’t imagine what it would be if it really was cold back here. Santa brought me the cutest pink coat this year with fake fur collar which makes me feel pretty and polished, a nice feeling when you’re like the marshmallow man on the inside.

On the shoes department there’s not much pizzazz but still I would like to show some of them: the booties, my classic during winter, the sneakers and the jelly shoes, one of my newest shoe purchases that although lots of them have populated the internet they still raise divided opinions.

How has been your year in outfits? Which is your last favorite purchase? Are you building a capsule wardrobe or any particular clothing project? Would love to read! Because above all this is always about…

Feeling good & having fun

Hi Hannah very happy to have you here! :) I got it on a local store so unfortunately I can’t share a link. I’ve checked if there was a label but there’s nothing I could find, sorry!

  6. I love that third outfit (with the blue and white striped top and pink skirt)! I feel like you would have fun with the Taiwanese fashion brand Dailo. I tried to find a link to their website–if they even have one–but my search was to no avail! If I ever find it, I will get back to you on that :) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

Oh! Please do! I have tried to google it, without success, only came to a facebook page that wasn’t working properly but had some colorful and fun clothing pictures, I would love to see them. Thanks dear!

Your outfits are so awesome Damaris, you always inspire me to step up my cute game and your shoes are awesome, I’m still on the hunt for cute boots after seeing yours! I used to only wear the sheer type stockings at school (they’d last only a few wears) until I bought some of the really dense stockings and they are awesome! They last forever and are super warm :) So that’s my stocking help/advice :P

I think Winter is a bit boring for fashion (I too need to be super warm, even though it doesn’t get too cold here) but having a super cute coat I think is the secret compromise. I did buy a cute beanie when I was in Melbourne so I think beanies might be my new warm staple!
